Rangamati is a popular town in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in the Chittagong Division of Bangladesh. Get inYou can come to Rangamati by bus from Chittagong there is one direct bus Paharica starts from Chittagong at 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and from Rangamati at 8:00 AM to 8:50 PM in every one hour interval and takes around 2.5 hours. The Paharica bus fare is 120tk (as of April 2014) and you can get the tickets from Muradpur, Oxygen Mor. There are lots of local buses towards Rangamati from the same Oxygen but those buses stops at any point where there is passenger which overloads the bus all-times and takes 3 hours journey. There are a few direct buses from the capital Dhaka. These buses are not air conditioned. There are some local buses from the nearby districts. You can also drive into Rangamati from Chittagong. Foreigners are required to register while entering Rangamati. Get aroundThe only transport within the town is three-wheeler taxis (Green CNGs). You can either reserve the taxi or travel based on shared basis. You can always find taxis oat your destination and the fare is 30tk~100tk based on distance if you reserve it. On a shared taxi the fare is 12 tk~30 tk based on distance. SeeThe Chakma King’s residence and nearby monastery. The Parjatan sites – motel, hanging bridge etc. Kaptai Lake – Peda Ting Ting resort, Shubolong, Chakma Villages There is a new private resort and park named Tuk Tuk Eco village which also provides lodging in natural wooden made bungalows hanging on hills within forest where you can enjoy fantastic natural scenery. The room rent is 1200tk. They have a restaurant where you can enjoy the natural beauty while taking your meal. Most of the boat man avoid this place but this is one of the most scenic place to visit. You can either go to Kaptai or to Shuvolong. The boat ride is very scenic. BuyRangamati has one of the most famous tribal textiles by the name of “Bain”. All clothes are hand made. Chakma tribes clothes are made here primarily, but now its being transformed into different fashion styles where other castes can wear it. Even household cloths are made here, eg. pillow covers, bed sheets, etc. Eat“FROZEN” is a home made food corner. The owner, Binita Chakma, runs the food corner. It also takes big orders for picnics or any social parties. Chinese, Continental and traditional local foods are also available here. The best thing about it is it always serves home-made tasting food. This food corner is located at “Chompak Nagar”, near M.P Dipankar Talukdar’s house. Contact: 01843031914. Drink[edit][add listing]Some local brands without label are there. Elachi is that kind of a brand. It will cost you Tk. 120 for a half (.5) liter of Elachi. This drink can be found on Reserve Bazaar on the Rangamati City. Drink is good with nice flavor. I recommend if you go to Rangamati you taste Elachi.
